"Human Enhancement: Could you become infected with a computer virus"? Plenary address by Dr Mark Gasson, University of Reading

This video was taken of Dr Mark Gasson delivering his plenary address at the IEEE Symposium on Technology and Society (ISTAS) held at the University of Wollongong 7-10 June 2010. Dr Gasson's talk was titled "Human Enhancement: Could you become infected with a computer virus?"

Dr Gasson is a senior research fellow at the University of Reading, working closely with Professor Kevin Warwick in the Cybernetic Intelligence Research Group.

The theme of the conference was "The Social Implications of Emerging Technologies" and Associate Professor Katina Michael who was the program chair of the conference found it necessary to ensure there was a talk on technology and human enhancement. Dr Gasson was able to categorically demonstrate that a chip implant could become infected with a computer virus.

It is important to note that Dr Gasson was also the General Chair of IEEE ISTAS 2010.
